Rainbow Clouds

We marched out, the day

already warm, full of birdsong

and a blue sky filled with lovely clouds.

We chatted, stopped, watched

as two birds squabbled through

the limbs — maybe it was a lover’s

quarrel about the keeping of the nest.

Nearing home we were awed

by the striations of colors in the sky,

a beautiful display of artistry; we stood

a while and marveled, humbled by

a blessing in the clouds.
