“The surface of the water, toward the sun, reflecting the light with different degrees of brilliancy is very exhilarating…” — Henry David Thoreau, April, 13 1854

This long contented sigh
escapes as we turn
the corner and the small
pond comes into full view.
There is just something
about water that both calms
and exhilarates the soul.
This little nook of nature
sits a few feet from asphalt
and urban concrete
that connects
building to building,
but nestled in this haven,
we find solace in the simple
pleasure of watching light
dancing upon water.
