“Deep in their roots, all flowers keep the light.”
— Theodore Roenthke
I see this blossom
each morning unfurling
to find the light,
reaching out to touch
a ray of sun, warmth
necessary for life;
its roots stretch down
into moistened earth
as morning brings on
the day’s thirst.
I complete that same
search upon rising —
I need my daily quench;
my warmth the Son;
my drink living water;
my soul the bloom
unfurling to find
the light.
