The Root

“Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust Him.  Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” — Ephesians 3:17, NLT

The root fixes itself into the soil,

imbibes the rich humus,

impressing itself further,

deeper, establishing a home,

a tap line and other finer branches,

veins that sustain the stem,

leaves, flower — the bloom,

the beautiful blossom,

a complete expression

of all growth.

So we, too, thrive when

emerged in love, fed

by the One who created all

things, filled to overflowing

with living water as we flower

into the souls He created

us to be.
