I’ve developed a fondness
for flowers, and I tell you,
if you take the time to notice,
they are different each day,
each hour, really. I’ve become
enamored of bees, only recently
realizing how many I’ll see if I slow
down and seek them amid blooms
near me. I have been standing
under trees, finding a new kind
of comfort beneath canopies,
and somehow squirrels realize
that I am no threat, wasps fly
close but don’t sting, birds
continue to sing even as I step
in to take a peek (though,
I must admit, getting a good
bird photo is most difficult).
I feel a bit like Eve in an earthly
Eden, my eyes newly awakened
and creation sits wide open.
I am so humbled by each wonder
God so kindly nudges
me to notice.
