Settling into the deep
of dusk, like an easing
of self, like a forgiveness
of all we said or didn’t say,
like one more chance
to make amends —
a reprieve, a pardon, a release
until tomorrow.
I recall one still moment
in the busyness of hours
when my only concern
was capturing a photo
of a fuzzy bee, that image
becomes my grounding,
and I can let the whole
day wash over me,
remember I’m a work
in progress, and just like
that sweet, little,
diligent bumble, I pray
to be a better doer
tomorrow.
