“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches. I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne. I am the bright morning star.” — Revelation 22:16
I don’t sleep for long anymore.
It isn’t that I don’t sleep well,
for I doze deep and dream,
but six hours or less is the limit
of my slumbering;
just a phase, maybe,
or part of aging; maturing
brings changes.
I love the quietness of morning —
a soothing newness
that nighttime can never be.
Night descends like an ending
of something, a transition
to tomorrow; morning is renewal
and feels like hope’s promise.
Indeed it is — God has given
us another day to shine
forth His glory, to be created
over in His image,
Son casting light on sun,
sanctification becoming us.
