God Alone

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. —Ephesians 3:18

We have moments of clarity, soul-deep

perceptions, when in epiphany

we are tucked in the love of God, quiet

and aware enough to soak in the truth

of His existence. Often He seems remote,

more idea than person, more religion

than relation, and we remain in distant awe,

but in those clear moments of prayer

when He is nearer than all of the worries

and pain we wrap so tightly to us,

when He becomes our cloak, the focus

of our breathing, the center of our thinking,

the speaker to our being, we find

that His love is all we’ve ever needed,

and for those sweet moments, we let go

of all else and live in the joy of God alone.
