Thorns in Our Flesh

Moses stumbled in his speech,

a cry of I can’t raised before God,

and I relate well to that doubting

demeanor; I carry my own why-not

and not-me reasons, a quiver of debate

strapped to my back, my sharp defenses

pulled taunt and shot from a distance,

but God doesn’t ask for our excuses,

just the humility to trust His power

made perfect in our weakness.

His grace is always enough.
