Lonely Bird Song

“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation,…” — Matthew 12:25, NLT

This little bird chirped,

maybe out of despair

or confusion or an unnamed

ache from the darkness

in this world.  She sat

high on a wire trying

to make sense of the other

melancholy songs coming

from each side of a long line

stretching before

and after her current

verse, each strained note

becoming pained

squawks of what was once

the harmonious song

of a fellowship chorus,

but now only a scattering

of lonely birds voicing

despair, distancing

along a lonely wire,

longing for unity

in a lonely world.

  1. “A friend is someone that knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.” (By an unknown author)

…. and the melody. There is yet another child bird in the flock who has not forgotten to sing the gift of the song.

May the lonely bird look up the sky as the child bird sings and seek renewal of hope and faith in Him, the composer of one’s heart song. He remains faithful…
