Surrendered Beauty

And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?  — Luke 12:28, NLT

A rose, so full from the beautiful

blossoms of life, fell over

near my feet, too heavy

to uphold her velvet ribbons

imbued with such deep fragrance.

I tried to lift her up, encourage her

to stand by shifting the weight

to the other side, hoping the stem

could regain its upright position.

But this lovely little creature

has decided to bow, and who

am I to dictate how a flower praises

the One who festooned those

incense-infused and silken blooms

that give us such good pleasure.
