O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures. —Psalm 104:24

There were only a few moments
to wander in the little garden,
that place of solace that gives
me so much, my place to remember
creation and the Creator.
The little tuft of grass that blows
softly above the silver pony,
the new little button roses
that turn the sweetest pink
before fading back into snow,
the blue plumbago all silvery
like moon glow, the shadows
from a tree, its limbs holding
only a few more leaves waiting
to fall on the autumn floor,
and I take just a few moments
in this remembrance of being before
we lived sealed inside lifeless walls
separated from this beauty around us.
