“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness….we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.” — Romans 8:26, NLT
We sometimes settle into prayer
so weary and worldly-weighted
that our words puddle into a mush
of syllables, and we fall mute,
unable to sift our own thoughts.
We reach a point of sinking despair,
and then the Spirit intercedes
with wordless groans….
…Oh, God, most merciful,
pray for us.
