The deep dimple in the chin,
the curve of a lip,
the dark lashes that offset
the eyes, the angle of a nose
and cheekbones —

it is remarkable how a few
variations make for so many
individual faces, that and an
ineffable quality that each
soul adds — faces are simply
a marvelous work of art —
take time to study those lines
and shadows, take time
to really see people
and appreciate each one
as a unique and beautiful
creation.

Beholding another one’s face
Perhaps catching a glimpse of where one had been
And seeing what one hopes to become
One’s eyes will reveal much
As they are truly the window to one’s soul
Gaze deeply into them while eloquently listening
Hold on to their words expressed and unspoken
“To love another person is to see the face of God.” Les Miserables
