13.4 miles—
there and back again—
it is a groove, an echo,
a pattern, my route.
I rarely vary the way,
same turns same times
each day, and I pray,
listen to a tune or two,
contemplate my list
of to-dos, but the best
relay of my repeated loop
happens when my eyes
and spirit are attuned
enough to see something,
even one thing, new,
maybe the sway of limbs
in a desert willow, the last
bit of snow on a stretch
of green hedges, or sweet
little blooms that refuse
the hibernation of winter,
images that make me alive
to the vitality of the truth—
this is a dynamic creation!
Oh, what blessings awaken
when we engage in this
glorious life we’re given!

I wish!!!! That is the short distance from my house to my work by car.

Lol! I pictured you holding your dress up to reduce the soiling as you trek the prairies. You inspired me to return to walking daily nonetheless. I used to walk 3 miles a day, but my bony shins started feeling all too well the wear and tear. I run around the softer (sand under weeds) yard now with my dog playing.

My husband and I do walk 2-3 miles every day we are able — it is my favorite form of exercise, but my insistent need to stop and check camera angles and snap pics every few minutes makes for an inconsistent pace lol

Haha! YES! 💕 My dog is used to it; I hope your husband is a patient man. 😂
