This Tiny Wildflower

This wild-petaled daisy,

some form of bitter-weed,

a happy, sweet, silky

touch of sunshine at my feet,

how often we ignore

the smallest gifts existing

all around us.  You require

so little, enjoy the dry

climate, thrive in rocky

soil, tolerate our drought

and neglect, and exist

as nourishment to the humble

bee, the returning butterfly,

a constant, steady,

nearly forgotten

amazing part of this creation

deserving to be noticed.
