First Light

The moment has arrived 

when the sun is close enough

to rising that all the world 

is beginning to stir —

the first bird calls,

the fresh dew falls,

and we begin

our walk to find

the first ray

of sunshine.

It is a good 

day to be alive

on God’s

good earth.
