Pilgrimage

“Not all those who wander are lost” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien

Shafts of light

in hazy rays

dance inside the shaded

little patio garden,

warming sun falls fully

on tiles of sapphire

and terracotta marking the way

to a welcoming table,

and I am enamored by the little

path through a faded

turquoise gate

into the quaint beginning

of a little time away

from home.  Just being

in a new space, this

adobe casita set

amid a neighborhood

seemingly carved from

cool mud and stone,

makes me feel as if I have

traveled to a special place,

out on pilgrimage,

seeking a gentle escape

to pray and contemplate

all there is in this good life.
