Well-worn Shoes

We amble,

toss questions

to each other,

consider future

plans — travel

& leisure, family

gatherings, friend

trips — and our

pace is slowing

as we reminisce

about past

adventures, a life-

time of loving

each other,

and I think

we are like

well-worn shoes,

and however

unromantic

that may sound,

I think there

is no better

gift in marriage

than the gentle

grace of comfortable

companionship.
