Asea

May the sea roar and all it contains, the world and those who dwell in it. — Psalm 98:7

I saw this picture

of the sea,

the saturated sand,

the gray, salt-mist,

the line of foam

from the fallen

crest, and some

deep need

to walk out into

that cold water spray

that tingles our lips

and cheeks

broke open in me,

pushed at the elemental

edges of spirit, tugging

my soul-need for that roar

of quiet.
