“Morning without you is a dwindled dawn.”
— Emily Dickinson

I’d share an orange sorbet
sunrise with you at 16 or 82,
like this cool, mellow morning —
what a privilege to see
so many day-beginnings
with your kindness beside me,
blue sky & clouds rising,
a path before us, another
excursion of our ongoing,
hand-holding walks
under the glorious rays,
bound by a simple exchange
of our uncomplicated love.
