Home is the nicest word there is. — Laura Ingalls Wilder

The ache for home lives in all of us. — Maya Angelou
You sigh in the evenings,
long releases, chimes
that mark the twilight
hours, you hold memory,
years of living that show
in each scar from aging,
you are so familiar
that even in the darkness,
I can find my way
to each part within your
welcoming walls,
and during storms,
in the gray-cold of winter,
when the world is unsafe
or unfriendly, you wait
to comfort and provide
shelter, and I am so grateful
for the warmth of your hearth,
and so I thank God for each sweet
blessing home provides.
