When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers — the moon and the stars you set in place — what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? — Psalm 8:3-4
There is great comfort
in the majesty of trees
and sky, when I look
up, my smallness
magnified by the size
of a green canopy
and beyond the dome
of blue to the dark-
wide of space—
such beauty sparks
a deep praise
in me, a recognition
of the One able to cast
the stars and us,
His love whispering
to me in the wind-
quaked leaves
that He is mindful
of me is such mystery,
and I am startled
by His grand
and settled charity.
