Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, Lord. You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. —Psalm 4:6-8
Alight upon this golden bed,
a sanctuary for all weariness,
take nectar and find rest
from the strivings of this world;
your gossamer arm for flight,
your wounded wing,
will carry you no farther,
but this welcoming garden
is a pleasant place to land,
seek refuge, find comfort —
so accept the joy and welcome
peace when such tranquility is offered.
