Bounty-laden branches in golden
apple orchards, brilliant fields
of flaming poppies, a meadow
dotted with bowing daffodils,
pied patches of wild-sewn maize,
the amber thatches of wheat
that dance as the wind sweeps
over a wide plain, these leaves
laced in rings above my head —
Glory be to God for dappled things.
