…like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a parched land. — from Isaiah 32:2

Let us put to sleep our distress,
stow our woes in sunken chests,
hide away our sorrows,
push down the unrest
of our weary souls,
not in denial of a difficult world,
but to shift the ballast
of our passion and joy —
we must let the beautiful
out to breathe even when
the whole world fades to a fallow
gray, hold to the balance of truth —
there is light where there is shadow,
extol the blessings of each day.
