“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold, when it is summer in the light and winter in the shade.” – Charles Dickens
The first blooms and early bees,
the foraging butterflies and me —
we all thought the frost had passed,
that February closed winter’s account,
but that season still has currency
to spend, and so we wait for the final
coins of ice and snow to be dispersed,
and then spring will lavish us again
in the green abundance of plenty.
