Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it…
—Jeremiah 6:16, NASB

Well-worn stones carved by years
of stormwater and wild winds,
a slow degradation, our Earth’s
eroding ways —these are time markers,
silent clocks but for the low
steady whistle of March breezes
as I step through yesterday,
today, tomorrow, and all this
window has witnessed since
the beginning when no moss
had yet gathered, no leaf dropped,
no groove had marked the path
I now take— But to where?
….
I hear no answer but wait.
