Walking Amid Trees

The birds nest beside the streams and sing among the branches of the trees. — Psalm 104:12, NLT

To stay under the wide arms

stretching out to a calming blue,

under the plumes of green, silver,

to gold and a deepening orange;

to sit, back against the bark,

and wonder how much life

has passed under, over, through

root, trunk, limb, branch;

to marvel at the good, rich,

simple gifts of our Creator.

Ah, friends, that is life.
