Rest

Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’

Let us pray for those who labor

on this day proclaimed for rest,

for they must continue working,

steadfast in a task —

those nurses, police,

and all essential personnel, 

those who nurture,

those who protect,

those that keep our world

moving and fed, 

the clerks, attendants,

soldiers, farmers,

and all the many others,

and may they find

moments of rest,

moments of reflection,

moments of gratitude

in the midst of serving

so they, too, might pray

for those who labor

on this day proclaimed for rest.
