The circularity of time,
from ice to wind to sun,
to pumpkin patches,
falling leaves,
and all the cozy
of my favorite months —
may the autumn fire
stave off our winter
slumber for just
a little longer…
Although it has just
begun, I fear the loss
of October, I mourn
the passing of November,
and even though I know
the advent of Christmas
will bring joy, I want
to linger in between,
breathe deeply as the day
shortens and the morning
shivers in a glowing frost,
when all the world believes in
the blessings of the slowing season.
