The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air.
—Song of Solomon 2:12

The wide world opens
in this lilac-eyed daisy
with its glacier white
petals and streaks
of ice-blue,
a treasury of beauty
on one single,
unassuming bloom,
and it awakens this
field of new-green
that sits in a planter
just outside
my work-window —
a tiny garden,
a work of art,
an offering
reminding me
what makes
this world
meaningful —
created life.
