“I am like an owl in the desert, like a little owl in a far-off wilderness. I lie awake, lonely as a solitary bird on the roof.” — Psalm 102:6-7
There are those times
of deep introspection,
a brooding season
of the soul, those sojourns
we must take when life
becomes heavy, our path
bogged down, our heart
cleft into an ache
of brokenness only
God can restore.
I’ve had many
3am reckonings,
my dreams in patches,
confusion from all
that troubles me,
and I call out, awake,
like a solitary bird
in a far-off wilderness,
but He finds me,
brings me to rest,
safe again,
in the strength
of His protective
wings.
