A Mark for Courage

I have this little pink bookmark

in my journal, an encouragement

to write and share, for any form

of expression takes courage,

especially when your heart

is in all you give out.

These little writings, perhaps

incidental to the world,

reflect my soul opened,

my thoughts laid bare,

my profession of faith

and often confessions

of times I miss the mark.

There are days I hold back,

pause before hitting send,

and I wonder if I should just end

this outreach, my heart

tender from too much sharing,

but I press on, praying to be some

part of a grander expression

of how humans live and love

as God’s creations.
