You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set. —Psalm 104:19, NLT
It hasn’t felt all that different yet.
We’ve only just waded into the
lapping waves of 2021,
barely getting our feet wet.
It felt so long getting here —
I think we all let out a collective
breath when the clock finally
struck us to a new year,
maybe a new perspective,
maybe a renewal of hope —
the world is still here, we
are still rising to a beautiful
sun and sleeping under
a glowing globe and twinkle
lights, the trees will leaf,
the flowers bloom, the spring
winds will bring rain for roots,
and we will move through
another year, face what’s new,
reminisce on what’s past, even
finding beauty in what was
a very hard year, a persistent
year, a year that tried us all.
