Whisperings
What whisper should we believe?
Listen and you will hear
many voices calling you,
sometimes seducing
other times attacking —
What prejudice do we bring
to the chatter? I need
the quiet, sure voice
of discernment —
no trendy, feel-good
speech, no political
correctness of any
leaning, no building up
by tearing down, no
self-made illusions; I
long to settle into truth;
we may be called
into some uncertainty,
when we don’t know
all of the answers,
but when we know
the One who made
the oceans and mountains,
who controls the vastness
of space upon space,
we can rest, discerning
that we are His, and He
knew yesterday, knows
today, has always known
tomorrow. Shut out
the noise and sit
at the feet of the One
whose truth stands,
settled and finished,
continuous in all
mercy and grace.
