Such remembrances we have….
We might mark a certain date,
celebrate it every year,
or keep a tattered square
of cloth from a childhood quilt,
or carry a frayed picture
of a grandmother or cousin;
we might have pressed petals,
yellowing letters, or faded
Christmas cards….
But sometimes we just hold
intangible, precious memories
inside, safe in a room
only we can enter, locked
in our heart’s chest,
a willingness to remember
becomes our only way in.
